quest update

I haven't posted any thing on my new 'quest' earlier because I haven't wanted to bore you. It's only been 1 week, and while the scales aren't spiraling downward, I feel better/healthier. I was quickly reminded why I quit juicing some things like carrots and beets (BLYUCK!) but at the same time quickly reminded at how good they instantly make me feel. Which brought thoughts of how I can make habit changes with juicing that will work daily for me-- (did you know they make really nifty, pretty stainless steel juicers now? PERFECT for counter top convenience...oh Mark... we NEED a new one... :) ) I haven't been able to totally follow the '21 day plan' as far as lunches/dinners go, but have made better food combining choices at those times-- it's REALLY hard to make raw lunches when you carting 4 children to this event and that event, etc, etc, etc!

But isn't that what life is about-- the journey of finding how to make it work for your world? I have found really yummy treats that work for my sweet tooth, especially in the evening after a karate workout-- a really ripe banana topped with a sprinkling of lemon juice and natural maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg-- YUM! And a slice of Ezekiel bread (until I find a true living bread that tastes good and doesn't cost more than a gallon of gas), warmed with butter (Earth Balance) and raw honey. Each pretty satisfying and feel MUCH better than my late-night pint of Ben and Jerry :)

On to week 2... will have to work on lunch and dinner!

So many different personalities

Our kitchen table has been used for many things the past few days. From testing, to eating, to somehow fitting in this little project- and I REALLY have NO idea how :)

We were making (err- attempting) tissue paper art where first you draw a shape, then cut little squares out of tissue paper. Place the middle of the tissue paper square over the eraser-end of a pencil. Crinkle tissue paper, dip in glue, then place onto your shape.

Elisha's strong-willed personality came out in full force. "I don't want to- it won't do what I want it to, so I'm doing this." His picture turned out beautifully and is now decorating Daddy's book for work.Elizabeth's free-flowing form showed abundantly when she decided tissue-paper flowers needed to decorate her entire page, not just her shape. Jacob just plain didn't get the hang of it, but he had a blast-- he decided he didn't want to show it in this picture. Or he was mad that Mom finally cut off his 1/2 bottle glue supply.

And Lydia's pretty, frilly, girly style was perfectly displayed in her work-of-art butterfly. But, Mom forgot to take a picture of her holding it. Sorry Lydia.

All those personalities sure make life interesting around here!

PS-- Daddy fixed the tent-- yay!

Spring Winds

A very windy evening made for very sad children this morning. Their beloved tent didn't fare well-- Daddy says never fear-- a few stakes and it'll be as good as new... and the wind keeps a-howlin' away...

To be continued...
